This tour
will take you to some of the more famous locations in Tuscany.
Cortona, Siena, San Gimignano, Chianti, Florence.
Travel to Cortona. This township
is easily explored on foot. You can take the steps to Chiesa
di Santa Margherita, where you gain fantastic views of the
Val di Chiana below. Visit the famous Museo Accademia Etrusca
(the largest modern Etruscan Museum in Europe), stroll the
many ancient alleys, which are lined with wonderful boutiques,
clothing, ceramics, jewellery, and leatherwear... the choices
are endless.
Travel to Florence. The historical part of this city is contained
in a small area and within half hour walking distance of Il
Duomo. We will accompany you to the local train station Cortona-Camucia,
for your travel to Florence. We will then collect you from
the same train station on your return.
Travel to Siena and San Gimignano, where you experience, the
beautiful city of Siena, famous for Il Palio and the spectacular
Piazza del Campo... enjoy lunch or an espresso whilst watching
the passing parade! The spectacular Duomo is not to be missed.
Stepping back in time is to visit the medieval town of San
Gimignano, with its rich array of artisan shops and famous
for its many towers and wonderful antic ambience. The 200
steps via internal staircase, will take you to the top of
the Torre Grossa for some truly breathtaking views.
We spend one whole day travelling the countryside of the wine-growing
region of Chianti. This is a truly leisurely day, whereby
we stop randomly at some wonderful wineries and sample the
wine of the region. Greve in Chianti is always a preferred
stop for a Tuscan lunch, however, this is not a must and we
can continue the winery trail if so desired.
Two free days are incorporated in this tour, whereby you are
welcome to enjoy the wonderful surroundings of your accommodation.
Alternatively we can drive you to another small township in
the close vicinity, such as Castiglion Fiorentino, where you
can "explore and enjoy" the surroundings at your
leisure.
On any given weekday, there is a varied array of treasures
to be found at one of the many local markets.
